Durham Elmo’s opened at 9:00 a.m. Currently, 1/3 of our grill is not functioning which has caused us to limit the egg choices to only scrambled eggs. We are not sure when this can be fixed because repair people are dealing with the icy road conditions and are unable to get out.

We are anticipating an early close as well and will update the information here as soon as it is decided.

Carrboro Elmo’s is closed today, due to the icy road conditions.

On Monday night, January 10th, Elmo’s Diner-Durham will be open as usual unless bad weather comes speeding in rapidly this evening.  We always try to stay open as long as possible, while still allowing ample time for our staff to return home safely.

For Tuesday morning, we will be opening at 9:00 am, so that it is daylight out when our staff is headed in.  We don’t want them traveling in pre-dawn and happen upon black ice which is supposed to be a possibility.

Elmo’s Diner-Durham will be hosting a First Tuesday fundraiser on Tuesday, Jan. 4th for Githens Middle School. Ten percent of sales from that day (including take-out) will go to Githens Middle School.

Elmo’s Diner-Carrboro will be hosting Seawell Elementary School and the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Public School Foundation. You can also go the extra mile and give blood. The American Red Cross will have their mobile blood drive van in the parking lot between 2:30 and 7:00 that day.

The blood drive does accept walk-ins, but it is quicker for you to make an appointment. You can also call the diner at 919-929-2909 and ask for Cindy McMahan or leave a message and she will return you call to set up an appointment.
